Caela

This phrase summarizes Caelas personality!

And when speaking up, although I'm not always right, I don't really like being the only one left!

There are always those rules that are best broken, lines that are better crossed as well as status quo and conventions that needs to be challenged. I do not need a name, an age, a culture or a face for there is much more to a person than nationality, gender, color or race.

Caela is the nom de plume that I have chosen. Derived from the Latin Cælum, it speaks of both “sky, heaven” or “tool with a sharp beveled point, used in engraving or carving stone.” . It neither promises nor desires, it simply is and yet it can be so much more. That summarizes human potential for me. The sky is never the same sky and an engraved or carved stone is always different from what it was. Change is the constant element.

And in this journey, Caela struggles to understand the world around her.  Like everyone else in this blog, her opinion does not claim to be “right” or that of an “expert” — they are just opinions.

Little Kitty Up a Tree

SOMETIMES I PRETEND TO BE NORMAL. but it gets boring.

So I go back to being me!

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, but I’m a kitten and we cats are gods! (laugh)

Kidding aside, I’m just someone who’s desperately trying to lead a carefree life. I have simple dreams like owning a house by the promontory and exploring the hidden floors of our school library. I mostly keep to myself and my tight circle of friends and loved ones, so I usually don’t know much about the recent happenings around the world. However, because I strongly believe that a butterfly flapping its wings in China could start a storm in New York (also known as the Butterfly Effect)… exactly because I believe that the smallest, most trivial things can initiate a ripple effect to the world, I find myself here– trying to trace the links of the mishaps in my own little world to the trials of my country and of the world at large.

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. This sentence has all the letters of the English alphabet, but what is the purpose of the brown fox in going over the lazy dog? To get to the chickens that the dog has neglected to protect, perhaps? And why is the dog being lazy in its duties? A little kitten up a tree could see a little bit more than the fox after all the good things in life (like chickens) and the dog letting the foxes do as they please (by being lazy).

I am the little kitty up a tree. I may be small, but there’s a part of the world only I could see.

Malabog

Let me check my schedule TODAY IS NOT GOOD

In hoc signia vincit. (Translation: By this sign you will conquer.) I am serious. Literally.

zap. twing. twang. clang. grumble. grumble. rub. rub. snort. screech. squack. woof. swoon. swell. yawn. tweak. squeak. squeak. sniff. smurf. smack. BANG!

Nothing makes sense because I always speak nonsense–or so they say. Too bad they don’t have the capacity to comprehend how eccentricities should be comprehended. Comprehension, I love that word. Enough of this nonsense. Let’s get down to business.

Malabog means “unclear”, “blurry”, or “murky” in one of Bicol’s vernaculars.

I chose Malabog because:

*Comprehension is subjective, therefore nothing can be defined definitely, which makes the definition of things blurry.

*I believe that if the definition of things are blurry, the line between what is real and what is not is unclear and thin.

*And if the line between what is real and what is not is unclear and thin, no one can ever be sure of who are insane and of who are not insane.

This is insane. I hope you got what I meant.

Dawa anu pa an gibohon kan mga tawo, an buhay sa daga talagang malabog. Minsan dai mo na aram kung arin ang tama, kung arin ang sala–gabos nakadepende sa paghiling mo. (Translation: Whatever man does, the definition of life will always be unclear. When confronted with situations that may spell the difference between life and death, what is wrong and what is right is disregarded–the judging will depend on perspective.)
